La Ceiba sits at the center of most Honduras itineraries — the gateway to the Bay Islands, the jumping-off point for Nicaragua, and the base for the north coast’s rivers and rainforest. Here’s how the transport actually fits together.
Getting into La Ceiba
Most international travelers land at San Pedro Sula (SAP) or Palmerola (XPL), not La Ceiba itself. We run direct airport transfers from both: SAP to La Ceiba is $250 for 1 to 5 passengers, and Palmerola to La Ceiba is $350 for 1 to 5 passengers. Both use new 2022/2023 Toyota Hiace vans and are timed to connect with the Bay Islands ferries, with a rest stop and breakfast included in La Ceiba before you continue.
Getting to the Bay Islands from La Ceiba
The Roatán ferry (Galaxy Wave) departs La Ceiba’s Muelle de Cabotaje at 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM. The Utila ferry (Utila Dream) departs at 9:00 AM and 4:40 PM. Our airport transfers are built around these times so a flight delay doesn’t turn into a missed sailing.
Getting from La Ceiba into Central America
We run shared shuttles from La Ceiba to destinations across Honduras and neighboring countries: Tegucigalpa ($55), Copán Ruinas ($45), Lago de Yojoa ($60), and cross-border routes into Guatemala (Livingston $80, Puerto Barrios $55, Río Dulce $75) and Nicaragua (León & Managua, $85, Wednesdays only — departs La Ceiba 5:00 PM, returns Managua 10:00 PM).
Day trips from La Ceiba
If you have time before moving on, La Ceiba is also the base for real day trips: whitewater rafting on the Río Cangrejal, hiking in Pico Bonito National Park, boat tours to Cayos Cochinos, and the Cuero y Salado wildlife refuge (manatees, monkeys, and an antique banana-train ride included).
How it all books
Every route above books directly through WhatsApp — no reservation forms, no waiting on hold. Send us your dates and we’ll confirm what fits your itinerary.
The bottom line
La Ceiba isn’t just a stop — it’s the hub that connects the airports, the islands, and the routes south into Central America. Message us on WhatsApp with where you’re headed and we’ll tell you the fastest way to get there.
