Our Private Van Trip From La Ceiba to Guatemala, in Photos

A group recently rode with Shuttle Guacamayos from La Ceiba, Honduras into Guatemala in one of our private vans. They crossed the border, spent an evening in Guatemala City, and finished under the famous yellow arch in Antigua. Here is the trip in photos, plus how you can book the same kind of ride.

Crossing the border

The van takes you straight through the Honduras and Guatemala border, so there is no changing buses or hauling bags between vehicles. Your driver stops at the border post, you handle immigration with your passport, and you get back in the same van. Have your passport ready and some cash for border fees.

An evening in Guatemala City

In Guatemala City the group headed to Paseo Cayalá, the white-walled shopping and dining district with its giant marble sculptures. Because the van is yours for the trip, you choose the stops. Dinner, shopping, a hotel drop-off and an early start the next day all work.

Antigua and the Santa Catalina Arch

Antigua Guatemala is the classic stop: cobblestone streets, colonial buildings and volcano views. The Santa Catalina Arch with its clock tower is the photo everyone wants, and our van made it into the shot.

Room for backpacks and suitcases

Our Toyota Hiace vans have a roof rack and a full luggage area at the back, so big backpacks and suitcases fit without anyone riding with a bag on their lap.

How the private van works

  • $800 one way from La Ceiba to any city in Guatemala or El Salvador.
